The district in brief

El Agamy District is Alexandria’s west on the Mediterranean, from El Max garden to coastal km 34.200 at Sidi Kerir. Its eastern edge runs from El Max garden past the Haras El Hodoud stadium, the line with West District; its southern edge is the Taamir axis, the line with El Amreya District; its western edge is the Sidi Kerir to airport road, the line with Borg El Arab, as the district’s page on the Alexandria Governorate portal sets them.

The district was created by Prime Minister’s decree 2426 of 2007, split from El Amreya District, over the area of Dekheila police qism. It holds seven shiakhas: El Max, El Dekheila, El Bitash East, El Bitash West, El Agamy El Bahariya, El Zeraa El Bahary and El Agamy Qibli (Umm Zeghio).12

The district headquarters on the Alexandria to Matrouh road at El Bitash and its technology citizen service centre take residents’ requests; call the district on 03 3086404 to confirm the address before you visit. The district holds a weekly public meeting on Tuesdays in the meeting hall of its headquarters. Along its coast are the beaches of El Agamy and the old El Max lighthouse, and at El Max stands the Haras El Hodoud stadium.

The lines on the district map are approximate, from the shiakha data OCHA publishes from CAPMAS. That data puts El Zeraa El Bahary and El Agamy Qibli in El Amreya qism, while Alexandria Governorate’s documents from 2018 to 2026 place both in El Agamy District, and the site follows the governorate. The strip between El Zeraa El Bahary and the Sidi Kerir to airport road is not drawn on the map.2

Our priorities

Four commitments that govern the district’s day-to-day decisions.

  1. Automated, understandable service

Residents should know the documents their service needs before they visit the technology centre, and find reconciliation files, shop licences and complaints handled in one place.

  2. Orderly streets

Clearing encroachments and unlicensed adverts on the Alexandria to Matrouh road, Hanoville Street and the Dekheila corniche, and inspecting shops with the regulators.

  3. Ready for the rains

Clearing drains and gullies with the sewerage company before winter, and keeping street lights and gardens up across the seven shiakhas.

  4. An open door for residents

The weekly public meeting on Tuesdays at the district headquarters, and taking part in the governor’s public meeting for the western sector in the third week of each month.
